Our Stakeholders

The Balanced Sea project puts sea users and interest groups at the centre of the site selection process.

Regional Stakeholder Group

A Regional Stakeholder Group will be set up by the Balanced Seas project in March 2010 and will have wide representation of stakeholder interests in the project area. The Regional Stakeholder Group will be responsible for developing the recommendations on the location and conservation objectives of Marine Conservation Zones.

The Balanced Seas project team, assisted by an independent facilitator, will make sure that all group members have equal opportunity to voice their views during the process. Members of the Regional Stakeholder Group will be expected to liaise with their constituencies and participate actively in the process.

Subregional Groups

Three subregional groups will be set up within the project area.  The geographical boundaries of these, and the work they will undertake, are being decided, using recommendations made at the five county meetings in November 2009.  Smaller groups will also be established where there is a particular need. More detailed information will be made available shortly.

National and International Stakeholders

National and international stakeholders will also have a voice in the Balanced Seas project and will provide data and advice. The mechanisms for their involvement are currently being developed and further information will be available shortly.
